In a significant step towards enhancing power grid reliability during extreme weather, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) has adopted new standards. Approved on December 10, 2024, these include TPL-008-1 for planning amidst temperature extremes, and BAL-007-1 for energy reliability assessments. Further modifications bolster system security and risk identification, with filings pending FERC approval.
